Deiveson Figueiredo will grapple Raul Rosas Jr. in a submission only match in the co-main event of Hype Brazil on April 8, the company announced Wednesday. The event will take place at the Komplexo Tempo arena in Sao Paulo.
The promotion had yet to announce the main event for Hype Brazil.
A former UFC flyweight champion, Figueiredo is currently slated to re-enter the UFC cage against Song Yadong in the main event of UFC Macau on May 30, attempting to rebound from a unanimous decision defeat to Umar Nurmagomedov in January, but first will test his grappling skills on next week’s Hype Brazil show.
Rosas Jr. is 17 younger than the Brazilian and holds an octagon record of 6-1 after winning five in a row since 2023, including a second-round submission over Ricky Turcios and a recent decision over Rob Font. “El Niño Problema” scored six of his 12 pro MMA wins via submission.
Hype Brazil will also feature bareknuckle boxing matches, including the debut of Cicero Coutinho opposite muay Thai specialist Marfio Canoletti. Coutinho is a 40-year-old MMA veteran, 11-8 in the sport, and one of the main coaches of former UFC lightweight champion and BMF titleholder Charles Oliveira at Chute Boxe Diego Lima.
