As expected, Colby Covington wants to compete at UFC White House, and he has an opponent in mind.

After competing at RAF 5 and defeating Luke Rockhold via tech fall, Covington turned his attention to getting back in the octagon for the first time in well over a year. While chatting with Valuetainment Comedy, Covington explained what it would mean to him.

“Yeah I’ve been negotiating with the UFC for the White House card,” Covington said. “That’s the one that I want. I told them this is important to my legacy and important to my career. This would be the biggest fight I’ve ever had, it’s a fight on the South Lawn in front of the President would be the greatest honor of my career. We’re in negotiations right now for it.”

During the RAF 5 match week, Covington turned his attention to Bo Nickal, really letting him have it during the pre-event press conference. Following his win over Rockhold, Covington expressed interest in a move up to middleweight, even telling MMA Fighting prior to the match that it would serve as a bit of a litmus test to see how it could physically fare at middleweight.

When asked who he’d like to fight at the June UFC White House event, Covington expressed interest in one half of the UFC 324 main event.

“I really like the fight with Paddy Pimblett,” Covington said. “He had shown interest that he might want to come up a weight class to welterweight. He’s cutting a lot of weight to get to 155. He weighs like 200. He looks like shit.

“Even the doctors told him, dude, you’re organs are going to fail if you keep cutting to lightweight, like he’s pretty much telling him you need to go up a weight class. I love that fight, plus, it’s a fight where it’s an American vs. a British guy. I don’t want to fight an American guy on an American card on the 250th birthday of America.”

Nickal saw Covington’s matchup wish and was left scratching his head, responding on social media.

“Colby talks crap about me the n says he wants to move to 185,” Nickal wrtoe. “I say okay let’s fight at the White House. Now he’s trying to run away. What a wimp. Man up and take your beating.”
