CHELSEA have recalled striker David Datro Fofana from his loan ahead of an expected permanent sale this month.

Fofana, 23, has been on loan in Turkey with Karagumruk for the first half of the season.

During the stint, he has scored seven goals.

However, he has various sides exploring a permanent signing this month.

Championship side Leicester are in desperate need of a new No9 and are eyeing a swoop.

Belgian club Anderlecht and Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer have also registered their interest in a deal.

The Blues signed Fofana for £10.5million during Graham Potter’s spell in charge.

However, he has made just four first-team appearances for the club.

Fofana even apologised to Chelsea fans for his failure to make an impact in West London.

The forward spent the first half of last season on loan at Goztepe in Turkey, scoring two in nine.

Previously, he went on loan to Burnley and German side Union Berlin.

Chelsea remain in talks with French side Rennes over a deal for defender Jeremy Jacquet.

Liam Rosenior will have seen Jacquet, 20, up close during his time in Ligue 1.

And Rennes are said to be holding out for a club record fee – with personal terms already reportedly agreed.

Rennes sold Jeremy Doku to Manchester City for £55.5m and so Chelsea may have to stump up as much as £56m for Jacquet.

The Blues are also keen on 18-year-old Barcelona wonderkid Dro, with the midfielder’s release clause just £5.2m.
