BKFC is shipping up to Boston with the bare-knuckle promotion set to hold an event at Fenway Park on Aug. 29.

It’s the first ever bare-knuckle event being held in Massachusetts with the promotion also staging a first of its kind card at the home of the Boston Red Sox.

The main event features BKFC featherweight champion Kai Stewart defending his belt against New England native Harry Gigliotti.

“We’re beyond excited to announce this unprecedented event at Fenway Park on Saturday, August 29,” BKFC president Dave Feldman said in a press release. “The team at Fenway Park has been outstanding to collaborate with in what is truly a can’t miss event on the national combat sports calendar.

“Kai Stewart is one of the most talented bare-knuckle fighters in the world, his reign as our featherweight world champion is truly exceptional, defeating top rated contenders anywhere in the world. However, fighting at Fenway Park against a Boston sports superstar in Harry Gigliotti who is also on a tremendous roll over the last three years is the toughest challenge of Stewart’s career.”

BKFC has continued to grow and expand into new markets after previously holding outdoor events at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota as well as an event held at a bullfighting arena in Spain.

Now the promotion is headed to historic Fenway Park for a bare-knuckle fight in August with more bouts expected o be announced in the coming weeks.

While UFC CEO Dana White has repeatedly said he wants to avoid ever holding events outdoors even after the success of the recent card at the White House, BKFC is seemingly embracing the option, especially with the new card announced for Fenway Park.
