AEK Athens coach Dragan Sakota was proud of his players’ effort in the loss to Unicaja Malaga in the second Basketball Champions League semifinal while loving the loud and fiery support from the fans of the team.
“The guys deserve congratulations. The fans today maybe scored 20 points,” Sakota said to Cosmote TV. “The game could’ve finished much easier for them [Malaga]. But the fans kept us going. I wish they are here in the upcoming games.”
AEK led 53 – 46 near the end of the third period until Malaga rallied to erase that deficit. The reigning champions made a 15-2 run in the last seven mintues to complete the comeback and get the ticket to the Final where they will face Galatasaray.
“That’s how it is when you face good teams,” Sakota added. “The guys played a good game under difficult circumstances against a team that has many big men.
